Functional Training: Health through Sport
Functional Training: Health through Sport

Functional training is a discipline that combines sport and health.
.
But first and foremost... What is Functional training? What exactly are we talking about?
.
Functional training is a mix of three disciplines: gymnastics, cardio and weightlifting.
.

Gymnastics

.
Gymnastics movements are numerous and varied. They improve precision, balance, coordination and agility. It's real technical work! Some examples: climbing ropes, isometric exercises, walking on your hands...
These exercises are generally performed using your body weight, with basic equipment (rings, pull down bar, ropes…). In this way, you can strengthen your whole body without any additional weight!

Cardio

.
Endurance work is a must in functional training. These exercises help to increase cardiac performance.
There are several ways to improve your endurance:
-  HIIT circuits: these are high-intensity sessions at intervals of about 25min. For beginners or advanced users, don't delay any longer to try them out!
- Real special cardio sessions: an example is the WOD Triple 3. This workout combines 3 exercises: rowing, skipping rope, and running. Enjoy!

.

Weightlifting

.
A true cornerstone of functional training, weightlifting requires a combination of strength, coordination, power and flexibility. The different motions in weightlifting allow you to work on muscle strengthening as well as technique.
